Records from Central Europe, France, The Netherlands, Portugal, Russia (ST), Spain, and for Middle Asia and Iran are erroneous or doubtful. Coranus lateralis Jakovlev almost certainly is only a colour form of Coranus tuberculifer Reuter occuring sometimes among males in Transcaucasia. For the sake of stability, however, it is undesirable to change this widely used current name. P.V. Putshkov & Moulet (2010) provide a list of erroneous records.
