Populations from Canary Islands, Portugal, Spain, north-eastern Iran and Turkmenistan are more or less intermediate between the two subspecies (Carapezza et al., 1999: 131). The citation from Cabo Verde (Pluot, 1978: map) apparently is erroneous.
