The specimens upon which longirostris was described were allegedly from Denmark, found in 1849 and 1857. As brenskei shows a mediterranean distribution and no further records from Denmark are known to date, mislabelling can be assumed. The record from Algeria (Stichel, 1957) most likely refers to A. obscurus (Heiss & Péricart, 2007).
