Older records of Rhagovelia nigricans Burmeister from the East Palaearctic and Oriental Region most certainly apply to other species. This includes the record by Chu & Hsiao, 1981, from China (SE: Guangdong, Hong Kong). The record from Israel (Hoberlandt, 1952b) belongs to R. infernalis africana (Fent et al., 2011). The record from Asian Turkey by Seidenstücker (1957) needs verification and records from Tunisia may refer to R. tozeur (Fent et al., 2011).
