The record from Tunisia refers to Macrotylus geniculatus, those from Algeria and Morocco are doubtful. Contrary to Wagner's (1969p: 307) supposal, the eastern records of M. elevatus do not refer to M. dentifer. The record from Macedonia (Protić, 1998) refers to M. dentifer.
