Distribution needs verification. Records from N Africa and various regions of Asia are based on misidentification of dark specimens of Notonecta glauca (see Kanyukova, 1973a: 360). Contrary to Kirkaldy (1897d: 419), Notonecta marginata Müller, 1776 is identical with Cymatia coleoptrata Fabricius (Corixidae) rather than with Notonecta obliqua Thunberg (Jansson & J.T. Polhemus, 1993b; Kerzhner, 1994a).
