Ceratocombus (Xylonannus) brevipennis Poppius, 1910

Štys (1990: 10) supposed that populations living in moss and in forest litter belong to different species, but he did not give morphological differences in support of this view. If he is correct, his species B (living in litter) should retain the name Ceratocombus brevipennis and all the other names placed in synonymy (of which C. lusaticus is the oldest) should be referred to his species A (living in mosses).
