Confusion exists on the identity of the Far East species of Hesperocorixa, involving at least the taxa described as H. distanti, H. hokkensis, H. kolthoffi, H. mandshurica and H. ussuriensis (cf. Dunn, 1979; Hiura, 1967a, 1968; Jaczewski, 1960a; Kanyukova, 1979b; Lundblad, 1933b; Miyamoto, 1980; Miyamoto & Hidaka, 1965; Miyamoto & Yasunaga, 1989a). All these entries are ecepted as valid species in the present listing, but future investigations may reveal synonymies.
