Carcinocoris erinaceus Handlirsch, 1897 was placed in synonymy with binghami Sharp, 1897 by Handlirsch (1897b) himself, then based on the same material restored by Distant (1902b), synonymized again by Kormilev (1966) and again given as separate species in the catalogue by Froeschner & Kormilev (1990), referring to Maa & Lin (1956). Both nominal species are described from Burma.
