The syntype of Stephanitis exigua preserved at EIHU is a female of S. pyrioides, and it is better to designate the lectotype, if still existing, at HNHM (Tomokuni, 1994a). The synonymy Stephanitis exigua = S. vitrea Takeya, 1931, by Takeya (1953), was rejected later by himself, and S. vitrea was suppressed as a synonym of S. aperta Horváth (Takeya, 1963). Drake & Ruhoff (1965) obviously did not see the monograph by Takeya (1963) and kept the first synonymy.
