Wagner (1953o) was unable to locate any type material for S. sulcatus Fieber, so he designated a specimen from Attika, Greece as lectotype. As this specimen was not part of the syntype series, it cannot be a lectotype; it could possibly be considered a neotype, but Péricart (2002a) has designated the selection as invalid.
