Linnaeus (1758) described a common European species of Acanthosomatidae as Cimex griseus, but many authors in 18th and 19th centuries misapplied this species name for Rhaphigaster nebulosa (see Reuter, 1888a: 129 for details). Citations from China (Yang, 1962; Hsiao & Cheng, 1977) refer to R. brevispina.
