Puton (1886c: 356) placed this species as a junior synonym of Jalla dumosa var. nigriventris Fieber, 1861 which was followed by all workers until Kiritshenko (1922) indicated that they were not conspecific. Kiritshenko (1922) also gave a short description of the type, and indicated that the type locality, France, Hyères, was probably in error.
