Josifov & Kerzhner (1978: 161) suspected synonymy of Cletus feanus Distant, 1902 with this species but L.Y. Zheng & Dong (1995) regarded it as separate. See also Cletus minax (Walker, 1871). Cletus bipunctatus was misidentified as C. feanus by Hsiao & L.Y. Zheng (1964).
