This genus was regarded for many years as synonymous with Petillia Stål, 1865 (type species by monotypy: Petillia mormo Stål, 1865, South Africa). Hsiao (1963c) raised it from synonymy and designated a type species. Distant (1902a: 348) wrongly cited Cimex tragus Fabricius, 1787 as type species of Petillia.
