Authors following Distant (1902a: 355) have accepted Homoeocerus puncticornis Burmeister, 1835 as the type species of Homoeocerus Burmeister, 1835, making the nominotypical subgenus equivalent to subgenus Tliponius Stål, 1860 as understood here.
The record of Homoeocerus albiguttulus from Iran (Ghahari et al., 2012c) needs confirmation.
