As a consequence of the transfer of Rhyparochromus malayus Stål, 1860 by Harrington (1980) to the genus Paraeucosmetus, the name Paraeucosmetus became a junior synonym of Gyndes Stål, 1862 and consequently malayus and pallicornis are congeneric (see J.A. Slater & O'Donnell, 1995: 156).
