Sweet (1996, 2006) proposed to elevate Aradoidea to infraordinal status, as Aradimorpha. This arrangement was rejected as unwarranted by Cassis & Schuh (2010) based on phylogenetic analysis. Thirteen holotypes of Aradidae described by S.L. Liu (1980a, 1981a, 1981b), which according to the original descriptions are deposited at TMNH, one holotype of S.L. Liu (1980a), and two holotypes of Hsiao (1964d) deposited at NKUM, could not be located there in 1992. Their present depository is unknown.
