Family PACHYNOMIDAE Stål, 1873

P. V. Putshkov

The family includes two subfamilies, four genera and 15‑20 species, distributed mostly in the tropics. Two species also inhabit the Palaearctic region. Apparently they are predators, though much of their ecology is unknown. During the daytime they hide under stones and bark (Miller, 1971).

World revision with excellent morphological study: Carayon & Villiers, 1968. Data on their taxonomic position are given also by Cobben (1968, 1978) and Kerzhner (1981).
