Flor (1860: 663) and Fieber (1860a: 261) were the first authors to point out the sexual dimorphism of the family, indicating the synonymy of Anthocoris truncatulus, described on a male, with Microphysa pselaphiformis, described on a female. The genus Loricula Curtis, 1853 was divided by Popov (2004) into three subgenera: Loricula Curtis, 1833, Myrmedobia Baerensprung, 1857 and Myrmericula Popov, 2004.
