Distant (1902a) listed Halys amygdali Germar (1817) as the type species of Apodiphus, but amygdali was not an original member of this genus. Amygdali is the senior synonym of Halys hellenica Lefebvre, 1831, however, and this was probably Distant’s intent. We cannot assume this however, and must consider his type designation invalid; Kirkaldy (1903d) correctly selected hellenicus as the type species.
