Saldula arenicola arenicola (Scholtz, 1847)

Erroneously recorded from the Nearctic (misidentifications!). Salda ocellata A. Costa is currently listed as a synonym of Saldula pallipes (Fabricius) (syn. Herrich-Schaeffer, 1850: 132). The new synonymy proposed here is based upon A. Costa, 1847a: plate II, fig. 5, that unmistakingly refers to arenicola Scholtz. As the papers by Scholtz and A. Costa both are published in 1847, the latter printed March 24, the printing date of Scholtz being unknown, there is an evident possibility that ocellata has priority as a valid name.
