V.G. Putshkov (1986) and some earlier authors considered Rhopalus lepidus Fieber, 1861 and Rhopalus rufus Schilling, 1829 to be forms of this species. The presence in Ireland has to be confirmed (O'Connor & Nelson, 2012).
