The name Pachymerus sordidus is attributed to Eversmann (1837: 36) by Jakovlev, (1867: 153), but Eversmann gave no description. The types of fokkeri were collected by Schmiedeknecht and belong to a series of species collected in Europe but mislabelled as collected in North Africa (see Péricart, 1983: 106, 1999c: 290).
