J.A. Slater & O'Donnell (1995: 172) substituted the junior primary homonym sordidus Fabricius, 1787 with pallens Dallas, 1852, but squalidus Gmelin, 1790 has priority. Of the two Cimex squalidus established by Gmelin on page 2177 and 2192, respectively, the first one is a senior homonym, because the second one was replaced with Cimex annularis O'Reilly, 1813.
