Gerris (Gerris) lacustris (Linnaeus, 1758)

Following Poisson (1953a), Gerris brevirostris Bergroth, 1893 is a synonym of G. swakopensis (Stål, 1858). After examining the type, Andersen (1994) synonymized G. brevirostris with G. lacustris. The type locality (Suez), however, may be erroneous.
