The identity of this species is unclear and a matter of controversy. It was considered a synonym or variety of Psallus haematodes by Douglas & Scott (1865: 417), of Parapsallus vitellinus by Linnavuori (1951b: 57), and of Plagiognathus chrysanthemi by Wagner (1961k: 76). The latter opinion is undoubtedly incorrect.
