The record from Algeria was based on mislabelling. As already noticed by P.V. Putshkov (1982a: 197), Cimex quinquemaculatus Gmelin belongs rather to Himacerus than to Coranus, and here Gmelin's name is placed in synonymy of Himacerus apterus. Cimex naevius Gmelin, 1790 (page 2200) given to Cimex No 207 of Zschach (1788) and the replacement name for it, C. dimidiatus Turton, 1802, probably are synonyms of Coranus subapterus (De Geer, 1773) and excluded from the synonymy of Himacerus apterus.
