Drake & Ruhoff (1960a: 71) created for this species the genus Octacysta and used the old specific name echii (then valid, as no longer secondary homonym). Péricart (1982: 367) synonymized Octacysta with Dictyla, which made the name echii unavailable again. Records from Germany, Italy and Switzerland are very old; the species has probably disappeared from these countries.
