Fieber (1861a:) described this species from Turkey. Wagner (1953o) indicated that he could not find any specimens in the Fieber or Puton collections of this species from Turkey in either the MNHN or NHMW. He did find a specimen from Syria in the Fieber collection which he selected as type for the species without actually calling it either lectotype or neotype.
