Family LARGIDAE Amyot & Serville, 1843
The includes about 15 genera and more than 100 species, distributed worldwide, but much more prevalent in the tropics, especially of the New World. All species are plant feeders, mostly on seeds. Some species are ground-living, the other live on shrubs and trees.
