Family DIPSOCORIDAE Dohrn, 1859

I.M. Kerzhner

The family contains one genus, Cryptostemma, with the subgenus Pachycoleus often regarded as generically distinct. The distribution is cosmopolitan, and numerous species remain undescribed. Typical habitats are banks of streams and rivers, where the insects are living under stones lying on wet sand, but both European species of the subgenus Pachycoleus inhabit very wet mosses, especially Sphagnum.
