Brachyrhynchus basalis Fieber, 1861a: 115 from Andalusia, Spain and later reported from Greece by Reuter, 1890d: 241 as Brachyrrhynchus basalis Fieb. Grèce: Parnasse (Saunders in litt.) is based on obviously mislabelled specimen(s) and a synonym of one of the oriental species of the B. membranaceus-group. Brachyrhynchus does not occur in the W Palaearctic Region (see Heiss, 1990b: 33).
