Chelonocorinae Miller, 1938, often cited as a synonym of Mezirinae, is an unavailable name. It was based on Chelonocoris Miller, 1938, which is unavailable because no type species was fixed. The generic name should be credited to Usinger & Matsuda (1959: 253) who designated the type species, but the family-group name was not considered as valid neither by Usinger & Matsuda (1959), nor by later authors. All the above does not affect the availability of the species names established in Chelonocoris before 1959.
