Most worker's concept of this genus has been much broader than presented here. Linnavuori (1975c, 1982b) developed a generic framework for the African species in this tribe. If his generic concepts are accurate, many of the Oriental Antestia species actually belong in several other genera: Antestiopsis, Otantestia, etc. I have placed the various species in genera according to Linnavuori's views.
